THE (NOT YET) HANDICAPPED
How can we carry each other, as fellow human beings? What impact does shame have? Can we question the boundaries between private and public? Why is care often so invisible and undervalued? What can we learn from people who have been dependent on (professional) care all their lives?
Waiting lists, budget cuts, dropouts and increasingly complex care demands: our care system is overloaded. Time for a radically different look at care.
The handicapped and the not yet handicapped. This is about all of us. An artistic investigation into the fear of deterioration, transience and dependence. How can we carry each other in an eroded care system?
There are currently no performance dates, but this show may be played in the future. This performance can also be booked. Visit contact on if interested.
This performance is made in cooperation with second-year students of the ArtEZ Artisteducator in Theatre programme in Arnhem and the players of our Production Group Community Arnhem. For eight weeks and four days a week, they will work towards the performance.
Artistic educator in Theatre:
This performance is part of the Contemporary Aesthetics module in which second-year students immerse themselves in a new context and conduct artistic research. The Artistic Educator in Theatre programme trains students to become artists who make a difference, are critical and share interesting stories.
Speels Collectief Community Arnhem:
SPEELS COLLECTIVE Speels Collectief is a diverse, mixed-abled theatre company. This performance was developed at Community Arnhem: a vibrant artistic breeding ground open to all. It works closely with ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de Kunsten and the Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen. Thus, we not only train actors, but also the makers, teachers and social workers of the future can develop into inclusive professionals here.
Guidance is provided by Kir Robben, artistic coordinator of Community Arnhem, and creator Marloes Dingshoff.
