Theaterroute Nabij

Join the whole family at Landpark Assisië in Biezenmortel on 13 and 14 May 2023 to enjoy a walking tour full of theatre, dance and music on the theme of ‘home’. The perfect Mother's Day outing in the park's new nature.

What is home for you? What does it feel like? Is it a haven where you can moor peacefully? Is it a memory of times gone by? Like invisible threads that take you back to your roots. Is home the opposite of uprooted? Is it a sense of oppression? Or is home a glimpse of the future, a dream you want to give shape to?

The answer to these questions is different for everyone, but at the core, the feeling of home may be the same. During Theatre Route Nearby, guides Frans and Cis take you on a journey after (their) home: Landpark Assisië.

During Theatre Route Nearby, you will enjoy two hours of a beautiful walking route full of nature in development, theatre, dance and music. The theatre route is a great opportunity to celebrate Mother's Day (on Sunday), a happy reason to admire theatre made by extraordinary people and a great chance to satisfy your curiosity about the historical area. The performances are by Speels Collectief, EELT Theatre Collective and Swarmers.

EELT Theatre Collective | Banking crisis
What happens when you make a new start together? How do you live together in a group? For the minor asylum seekers performing this play, these questions are central to their lives. They came to the Netherlands from Eritrea only a few months ago. Young international talents from Fontys Academy for Music and Performance Art frame the performance musically.

SPEELS COLLECTIEF | WHERE WE GO AFTER DARK
Everyone needs a home of their own. A place you know you will be taken care of when you fall. But what if you don't have this for a while? In the performance ‘WHERE WE GO when it gets darker’, a theatre company from Speels Collectief, which includes residents of the country park, gives a glimpse into the complex landscape of ‘being home’.

SWERMERS | Pan ~// Catwalk (duration performance)
From worn-out denim jacket to extravagant glitter dress. Our clothes are an expression of who we are, want to be or need to be. It is the home we always carry with us. Performance company Swarmers pays tribute to the colourful and multifaceted human being. This year, they show a performance that never ends.

POP-UPS
Between the three performances, you will encounter four short, theatrical surprises by Speels Collectief and EELT Theatre Collective on the route including ONLY IF I AM HERE.

ONLY IF I AM HERE by creator Ella de Coninck
What is home? What does it feel like? Both pop-up performances revolve around the feeling of ‘home’. For each player and dancer, home has to do with trust and safety, but where to find these feelings is different for everyone. With a cup of tea on the sofa, in someone else's arms or simply in the beautiful chapel at Landpark Assisië. In these performances, we show how important it is to feel at home somewhere. We will gladly take you into our story.

WHERE WE GO when it gets darker was created by Ella De Coninck and Björn van Duren. Ella is a dance teacher at Speels Collectief and gives dance theatre lessons on Tuesday evenings to a diverse group of actors at Landpark Assisië. Björn is a third-year student at the teaching theatre maker course at Fontys in Tilburg.
