ALS JIJ JE OGEN SLUIT

Will everything be different then?

Join us on a journey to Athens in 1580. After years of living in an outdated regime, a group of young people rebel against the strict rules of King Theseus. Their greatest wish? To be allowed to dream. But in the entrenched society, there is no place for that. In the present, we encounter this past again.

ALS JIJ JE OGEN SLUIT is an adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. A story about loss and change, about the search for the balance between your deepest fears and greatest desires. A story that is still relevant today. Together, we explore: should we stick with the old, start afresh or is there a middle way?

ALS JIJ JE OGEN SLUIT was created by Anice de Raaff under the guidance of Ella De Coninck. Ella is a dance teacher at Speels Collectief and gives dance theatre lessons on Tuesday evenings to a diverse group of actors at Landpark Assisië. Anice is a third-year student at Fontys Theatre Teacher Training College in Tilburg. She worked with the production group of Community Tilburg.

Within Speels Collectief's talent development maker programme, young makers create an artistic work. Third- and fourth-year art school students work with a diverse group of performers on their own performance or theatrical research. This gives them the opportunity to develop their maker skills and grow into inclusive theatre or dance makers.
